The Houseless Experiment: Weekly Roundup 2.0

Hello lovelies! Welcome to the second weekly roundup of my local nomad adventures in Portland, Oregon.

I am currently wrapping up this 2-week house sit in the Richmond neighborhood in SE Portland, and I’m going to miss being so incredibly close to all the really cool shops, boutiques, and FOOD! This week was about eating at as many different places as possible: Challenge Accepted.

My, what a busy week! Let’s recap starting from Friday, October 9th, which was awesome in it’s own regard because I had the day off from work. I started the day by walking just a few blocks to KOI Fusion and had me a spicy tofu rice bowl.

I returned to the house and watered all of the outside plants, surprised to see how ripe the tomatoes and apples had become in a few days. The day ended perfectly with making dinner, braving the crazy-long line at Salt & Straw for ice cream, and Netflix.

Saturday, October 10th was awesome. I went to this amazing stationary/craft store called Collage, and I fulfilled all of my office supply fantasies by browsing the small curated aisles of Moleskins and gel pens.

I headed to my parent’s house in Willsonville and we ventured out to Fir Point Farms to the pumpkin patch which included hayrides, beer garden, food, and forest trails! Upon returning to the house we de-gutted and carved the pumpkins and roasted the seeds, just like a gosh-darned Norman Rockwell picture!

Sunday, October 11th was also awesome because: Family Road trip! Mom, Dad, Penelope, Beth, Garrett, and myself, all crammed surprisingly comfortably into the parent’s SUV and we headed east to Cannon Beach. The weather was grand–sunshine, no need for a jacket, and no wind! We walked the beach, we browsed the kitschy shops, we ate at Bill’s Tavern Brewhouse, and I saw a dead, waterlogged seagull. A very successful trip, if I do say so myself.

Monday, October 12th came with the return to work, but I didn’t let that stop me from having a good day. On the way back to the house after work, I had an insatiable craving for ramen, so I texted a friend and we met up at Noreneko for ramen and a drink, and ended the evening  back in the Richmond neighborhood at Victory Bar.

Tuesday, October 13th I headed to my sister’s house after work to watch the Democratic debates  with some friends and drink boozy hot cider. My sister also found some beautiful themes for my blog, and as I browsed and day dreamed of the future of my writing, I decided on purchasing just the right one, which you guys will all be enjoying in the near future!

Wednesday, October 14th I had dinner plans with my friend, and after shopping for ingredients and picking up a bottle of wine, we made the most ridiculous and delicious meal– paleo, vegan zucchini lasagna?! Normally, I would never put anything like that in my mouth, however, my sister recently made the recipe and vouched for it. And topped with homemade basil cashew cheese?? Do yourself a favor and find the recipe at Healthy Recipe Ecstacy.

Thursday, October 15th I purchased website hosting from Blue Host! Shit be getting official over here at Graveyard Shift Travel, people. After work I walked over to Collage again to browse and lust over all the Halloween crafty ideas. Dinner at Bollywood Theater proved to be delicious and spicy, then a post dinner baguette binge at St. Honore. Because, carbs.

Friday, October 17th was a beautiful fall day, my parents came to the Richmond neighborhood and we walked to Eugenio’s for pizza and wine. Then Penelope and I were off to the Community Music Center, an intimate venue, to enjoy an evening of classical music performed by some friends of ours. The night ended in a blaze of glory– bagel bites and movie night.

I love looking back over each week and realizing all the time I get to spend with friends and family… and food.

Ok, my weekly obsession is the ridiculously adorable Iwako Japanese eraser puzzles. I have bought 10 in the last week. Also, my Frankenstein stencil, which I will be putting on everything.

Ok folks, that’s it for this week’s roundup, I will see you next Friday {or Saturday} for 3.0.

Stay classy!
