The Houseless Experiment: Weekly Round Up 4.0

Hello my dears!

It is time yet again for the Weekly Round Up: October 24th-30th. This week is kind of a big deal since tonight {as I write this} is the 30th consecutive day I have been experimenting with houselessness, so of course I’m drinking wine.

Read here if you are new to the Houseless Experiment, but I have successfully been houseless in my own city, staying with friends who have signed up to host me on my signup genius page in-return for helping with projects around their home. Mostly I have been cooking dinners and I have had some very stellar homies time, getting to know my friends on a more intimate level.

Saturday, October 24th I found myself house sitting again in North Portland for the home with the french bulldogs and two cats, and I’m beginning to fall in love with all of them so hopefully I get to spend more time with them in the future.

Adorable, but NOT the actual animals I’m sitting.

Sunday, October 25th I worked on a blog post– which I’m STILL writing, it’s been like pulling teeth, but it will be up soon. It’s about my summer trip to Vegas, baby! So I wrote, drank some wine, and crashed at my parent’s house.

Monday, October 26th I experienced one of my ridiculous day-long anxiety attacks while I was at work. These have visited me for the past 3 years off and on, and for various reasons I don’t need to get into right now, but they are near debilitating, and last for hours. On my lunch break I made an appointment at The Float Shoppe for sensory deprivation therapy aka Floating. This was my second time going, and I’m really enjoying exploring alternatives to addressing ailments.

Tuesday, October 27th I am staying in the Powellhurst-Gilbert neighborhood in South East Portland, with a friend and her son, as her boyfriend is out of town on a work assignment. Girl party! Well, after her son goes to bed. We made dinner, watched Amy Schumer on SNL, then fell in a YouTube hole and watched The Weeknd and Drake music videos, then watched videos making fun of Drake’s videos. Then fell asleep in the world’s most comfortable bed.

“When that hot-line bling…”

Wednesday, October 28th Myself along with my sister, brother-in-law and a bunch of people assisted our friend in pulling off an interactive mystery, puzzle game at OMSI After Dark, it was a live action Clue type game, but a lot of sciencey and nerdtastic additions. After that ended, I drove the sister and bro back to their house, where we proceeded to drink and watch mashups of the GOP debate that happened earlier in the evening. This tweet won the night:

Thursday, October 29th was just another day in paradise at work, but afterwards I was able to drop in last minute to Sugar Me on south east Division and get my lady ‘stache sugared {like waxing but way gentler on the skin}. Just another day in the life of a dark haired girl. I went “home” with a take-n-bake pizza in hand for my friend and her son, and after dinner and the kiddo went to bed, she and I stayed up late talking and sharing stories, something I have never done with her before and it was friend-tastic.

Friday, October 30th I made reservations for my next week’s stay… yes, I will be staying not at a friend’s house but paying for accommodations so that I can have some down time and focus on personalizing the blog’s new theme and have a little solo time, ‘cuz sometimes ya need it.

Two things happened today. One– I created 2 twitter handles, which are: #pdxeventalert  and #perfectpdxwknd . I’m going to use these handles to shout out events, and cool & weird shit happening around Portland including festival, music, and soon- a lot of ridiculous holiday events. And I made the decision to totally invest in myself, my writing, and this blog.

I have been a fan of Kate McKibbin and her awesome Secret Bloggers’ Business website and blog for some time now. She shares her invaluable savvy about starting and building a kick-ass website that helps people and can be turned into a location independent biz. Um, hello?! Sign me up for that! So I did, I joined her last LIVE MBA class of the year and I couldn’t be happier about taking steps towards carving out my own little space on the interwebs. I will definitely be updating y’all on my progress with the program which starts November 18th. MBA-header-logo-sales-page

  1. Great post and interesting to read what you have been up to with your houseless experiment this week. Seems like a great way to really get in touch with you local community and friends and family… Look forward to reading more!

    • Thanks, it’s been a wild first month, and I’m looking forward to more! I realized this morning, driving through my “new neighborhood” of the week, that the old neighborhoods are my favorite part of living here.
